They were given intensive and lengthy instructions at the prestigious imperial military academy. The seven best chariot drivers were chosen through a stringent selection process and they were then always available to do the Pharaoh’s bidding.
These chariot drivers of the Pharaoh served as escorts and bodyguards during all official events, private outings and military campaigns. Their duty was to answer to his every whim.
The chariot drivers glorified and upheld the power of their leader and formed the innermost shield protecting the Pharaoh.
